January is an exciting time. It is an opportunity to change and improve your life, and stick to your New Year’s Resolutions! Every year, thousands of people decide to exercise, eat healthier, quit smoking, or stop using sugar in their coffee. But most of these new efforts often fail after a few weeks. So, how can you make a new year’s resolution actually stick? Make it about something bigger than yourself.
Donate Money to a Good Cause
One resolution you can stick with is to donate to a cause! Annual reviews are just around the corner, and maybe so is that raise you’ve been working for. This year consider giving some of that back to charity. Pick an organization, a cause, or something you’re passionate about and see how far a little bit of your extra cash can go.
Volunteer Your Time
If you can’t donate to a cause monetarily, think of ways you can volunteer your time! After the rush of seasonal volunteers fades after the holiday season, charities are often looking for help. Whether you read to children at a hospital or walk dogs at the local shelter, volunteer opportunities are everywhere.
Make a Difference Locally
There are plenty of other ways to give back to your community in a positive way, like collecting items for a local women’s shelter or donating unused household items or clothing. All you have to do is look for opportunities and commit your resources to making a difference.
At Agronomic Lawn Management, we promote positive change in our community all year long. As voluntary participants of the Virginia Department of Conversation and Recreations “Green and Clean Initiative” as well as "Businesses for the Bay," we strive to educate customers about responsible lawn care practices that protect the environment.
